The group “La Esperanza Vive” of the Peninsula Family Service Agency in Redwood City is looking for volunteers who speak Spanish to provide company to grandparents who due to life circumstances have been left alone.

Rosa Aurora, a participant in the group, is 24 years old in the US and assures that the program has helped her.

“It has helped me a lot because loneliness sometimes attacks very badly,” said Rosa.

Volunteers help these people in many ways, however, they currently lack volunteers who speak Spanish so they are looking for people who are interested in being part of this valuable group.

“Right now we have about 13 participants who do have counselors, but we have about 20 who don’t have counselors,” said Veronica Park, a spokeswoman for Peninsula Family Service.

About the Group

El grupo “La Esperanza Vive” de la Agencia Penísula Family Service en Redwood City, está buscando voluntarios que hablen en español para que brinden compañía a los abuelitos que por circunstancias de la vida se han quedado solos.

Rosa Aurora, participante del grupo, tiene 24 años en EEUU y asegura que el programa la ha ayudado.

“Me ha ayudado mucho porque la soledad a veces ataca muy feo”, dijo Rosa.

Los voluntarios ayudan de muchas maneras a estas personas, sin embargo, actualmente carecen de voluntarios que hablen en español por lo que están buscando personas que estén interesadas en formar parte de este valioso grupo.

“Ahorita tenemos como 13 participantes si tienen consejeros, pero tenemos como 20 que no tienen consejeros”, indicó Verónica Park, vocera de Peninsula Family Service.
