Speaking Out

PFS is speaking out again to re-affirm our commitment to model what anti-racism looks like through our programs, words, and actions as a mission driven organization. We are appalled by the trend of violence against Asian-Americans during the COVID-19 pandemic, and even more distressed by the recent and dramatic uptick in this violence since January 2021. The San Francisco Bay Area is one of the hot spots for this indefensible behavior, and older adults in the Asian-American community have been particularly hard hit. We decry this behavior and stand for justice and fairness for all.

Our Older Adult Services program promotes health, mobility, and independence for ALL older adults we support. The program outcomes include reducing rates of illness and injury, as well as to ensure ALL aging members of our community live better, together. We cannot be successful in supporting our older adult neighbors when there is racism against our Asian-American community. To achieve our mission and vision we must dismantle and eradicate racism and hatred.

Our Stance

Heather Cleary, CEO of Peninsula Family Service states, “We are committed to being anti-racist not only because it is right, but also because it is necessary to improve the quality of the services we provide to ensure a more inclusive and equitable PFS and community.”

Founded in 1950, Peninsula Family Service (PFS) is a community-based organization that provides comprehensive services that support individuals and families at various stages of life. We reach over 12,000 individuals, families, and older adults each year through our innovative, professionally-led, locally-targeted solutions to secure the wellness and stability of our neighbors. We empower those most vulnerable in our community by providing them the support and tools they need to realize their full potential and lead healthy, stable lives. We envision a community where opportunity, financial stability, and wellness are secured for ALL.
